The Violet Miner Bee has been named Yates County’s 2025 Pollinator Tournament champion, according to CCE Yates County.
The gentle springtime pollinator edged out competitors with its ecological importance and unique habits, including ground-nesting behavior and its role in violet plant pollination. The Hudson Valley named the honeybee as its winner.
Two events are planned at the Penn Yan Community Garden: a flower-arranging workshop on Tuesday and a whimsical Fairy Night on August 1, both aimed at fostering community and garden engagement.
