Bristol Valley Theater will debut its third production of the season, The Cayuga Canal Girls, with performances running August 7 through 14 in Naples.
Set in Seneca Falls, the play follows five childhood friends reuniting in their hometown to lay one of their own to rest. As the group gathers, they face the emotional weight of life’s changes and reckon with the future of their relationships.
Winner of the 2020 American Association of Community Theatre’s NewPlayFest, The Cayuga Canal Girls is steeped in local relevance. Its themes and setting mirror the legacy of Seneca Falls, widely regarded as the Birthplace of Women’s Rights.
Local support has played a key role in the production. Community members have housed cast members during the run, and the Ontario County Arts Council awarded a $1,000 grant in support of the show’s impact on regional arts and well-being.
Bristol Valley Theater will offer both evening and matinee performances throughout the production’s weeklong run.
