Free lead safety training offered in Cayuga County

Landlords, property managers, and contractors in Cayuga County can now sign up for a free lead safety training course offered by the county health department on August 18.

The course, which runs from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., is part of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Lead Safe Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) program. Participants who complete the training and pass the exam will become certified in EPA-approved methods for addressing lead hazards and creating lead-safe environments.

The course is open to residential rental property managers and owners, landlords, general contractors, maintenance personnel, and trade professionals such as HVAC workers, painters, plumbers, carpenters, and roofers.

Space is limited, and registration is required. Interested participants must call the Cayuga County Health Department at (315) 253-1560 by August 14 to reserve a spot.

Attendees will receive a complimentary tool to promote lead-safe work practices. The training is funded by the Cayuga County Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program, part of the New York State Department of Health.
