State Police investigate death of 16-year-old in Cortlandville

The New York State Police are investigating the death of a 16-year-old girl who died following a medical emergency Saturday evening at a private residence in the town of Cortlandville.

Troopers responded to a 911 call at approximately 8:30 p.m. on July 26, after reports of an unresponsive juvenile at a home on State Route 41 in McGraw. The teenager was found unconscious in a bathroom, where CPR was already underway.

A responding Trooper joined lifesaving efforts, which were continued by EMS and TLC Ambulance personnel during transport to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center. The girl was pronounced dead a short time later.

An investigation by the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation is ongoing. Authorities say no additional information will be released at this time, pending the results of an autopsy and further investigative steps.
