A Newark man was hospitalized early Wednesday after losing control of his vehicle and crashing into a tree in the Town of Phelps.
Ontario County deputies say 37-year-old Pedro Kline was driving eastbound on Gifford Road around 6:50 a.m. when he veered across the roadway and struck a tree near the intersection with Ridley Road.
Kline was able to exit the Toyota truck on his own and was transported by Phelps Ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital with lower body injuries. Deputies cited him for speed not reasonable and prudent.
The crash was investigated by Deputy Bodine with assistance from Deputies Cheney and McGuigan. Phelps Fire responded to the scene, and Howies Auto removed the vehicle.
