A 17-year-old male has been charged with criminal impersonation after allegedly posing as a law enforcement officer on social media.
Seneca County Sheriff Timothy Thompson reported that investigators arrested the juvenile on July 21 around 12:30 p.m. The arrest followed an investigation into photos the teen allegedly took of himself wearing a law enforcement uniform and then shared with another individual online.
Authorities say the juvenile used the images to falsely present himself as a law enforcement official. He was charged with criminal impersonation in the second degree.
The teen is scheduled to appear at Seneca County Probation at a later date to answer the charge.
