Peacock price increase: What subscribers will pay this week

NBCUniversal’s streaming platform Peacock is raising prices again, with changes beginning July 23 for new subscribers and August 22 for existing ones.

The cost of watching shows like Love Island or The Office is going up. Peacock, owned by Comcast’s NBCUniversal, has announced a $3 monthly price hike across both its ad-supported and ad-free subscription tiers.

What are the new Peacock subscription prices?

Starting July 23, new users will see the updated pricing reflected immediately. Existing subscribers will be impacted starting August 22, depending on their billing cycle.

Here’s the breakdown of old and new prices:

Monthly subscriptions:

  • Peacock Premium (with ads):
    • Was: $7.99/month
    • Now: $10.99/month
  • Premium Plus (no ads):
    • Was: $13.99/month
    • Now: $16.99/month

Annual subscriptions:

  • Peacock Premium:
    • Was: $79.99/year
    • Now: $109.99/year
  • Premium Plus:
    • Was: $139.99/year
    • Now: $169.99/year

This marks the second consecutive year Peacock has raised prices. The previous increase came ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Why are Peacock prices going up?

According to reports from Reuters and Vulture, the latest increase helps NBCUniversal continue investing in content and platform improvements, including exclusive streaming rights and live sports. The company is also reportedly testing a more limited tier for certain users.

The price hike follows a recent $3.6 million legal settlement over Peacock’s subscription cancellation practices. NBCUniversal agreed to the payout after being accused of making it difficult for users to cancel auto-renewing subscriptions.

If approved by a California Superior Court, the settlement includes:

  • $1.5 million for consumer protection enforcement
  • $2 million in civil penalties
  • $100,000 in investigative costs

The company has not yet publicly commented on how the settlement may influence subscription processes or future pricing structures.

What happens next?

Peacock’s updated pricing takes effect for new users on July 23, while existing subscribers will see changes starting August 22. This makes it one of several streaming platforms increasing costs in 2025, as competition for exclusive content heats up.

Key takeaways:

  • Monthly Peacock Premium rises to $10.99; Premium Plus hits $16.99
  • Annual rates jump as high as $169.99
  • A new, limited tier is being tested
  • Price hike follows legal settlement over cancelation practices
