Fire crews in Seneca Falls responded quickly to a structure fire on Boston Avenue Thursday afternoon, containing the blaze before it could spread beyond the source.
The Seneca County Communications Center dispatched multiple agencies at 4:50 p.m. on July 17 after reports of smoke alarms sounding at a duplex. Within a minute, Seneca Falls Assistant Chief Daily arrived on scene and confirmed a working fire, prompting a coordinated response from several neighboring departments.
District Chief Farnsworth assumed command as more Seneca Falls units arrived. Firefighters from Engine 1464 knocked down the bulk of the fire using an extinguisher, while Engine 3 secured a water supply and advanced a hose line into the building. Additional crews from Engine 1 assisted in checking for fire extension.
Thanks to the fast and focused attack, interior crews confirmed that the fire had not extended into the walls or ceiling. As a result, mutual aid units from Geneva, North Seneca, Waterloo, and Fayette were either canceled or redirected. No injuries were reported.
The scene was turned over to Seneca County Fire Investigation and Code Enforcement. All Seneca Falls units were cleared by 6:00 p.m.
