Two arrested after fentanyl, drug paraphernalia found in Bath residence

A late-night disturbance at a residence in Colonial Lawns led to the arrest of two individuals after Bath police officers discovered fentanyl and multiple items of drug paraphernalia in plain view, officials said.

According to a statement from the Village of Bath Police Department, officers responded to the disturbance around 11:20 p.m. on July 13. Upon arrival, investigators observed drug-related materials throughout the residence. Four occupants were detained while officers conducted a search.

During the investigation, officers recovered a quantity of fentanyl and items commonly associated with drug packaging and sales. Two individuals — Travis J. Carlton, 26, of Bath, and Jennifer L. Benson, 31, of Addison — were arrested at the scene.

Carlton and Benson each face one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a Class B felony, and two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree, a Class A misdemeanor. The remaining two residents were released without charges.

The suspects were processed and transported to the Steuben County Jail for arraignment. They were later released.
