A suspicious package discovered at Memorial Day Park in the Village of Waterloo prompted an active investigation by local law enforcement Thursday morning.
The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Waterloo Police Department, responded to the scene and have since contained the area. Officials confirmed there is no risk to the public at this time.
Traffic around the park was being rerouted “out of an abundance of caution,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a public release.
The situation has been resolved and is still under investigation.
