A Rochester man is facing multiple felony charges after a shots-fired incident early Sunday morning at Irondequoit Beach State Park, New York State Police announced.
At approximately 3:53 a.m. on July 13, troopers and officers from the Irondequoit Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at 4999 Culver Road. When authorities arrived, they found a 9mm shell casing and evidence of gunfire near the park’s restroom building. Witnesses at the scene described a group altercation that ended in two gunshots.
Police stopped a vehicle seen leaving the area without headlights. Inside, they discovered a loaded, unregistered 9mm handgun. All three occupants were taken to SP Rochester for questioning.
One of them, 22-year-old Dontrell Dontrey Hughes of Rochester, was arrested and charged with five crimes, including:
- Two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon (C felony)
- Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon: ammunition feeding device (D felony)
- Fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon: ghost gun (A misdemeanor)
- First-degree reckless endangerment (D felony)
Hughes was processed without incident and transported to Monroe County Jail for arraignment.
The investigation remains ongoing.
