Ontario County District Attorney Jim Ritts defended himself Thursday against fallout from a 2024 office party where staff drank alcohol in the courthouse, according to WHAM. Ritts accused his election opponent, Jason MacBride, of politicizing the event to damage his reputation.
An internal report found multiple policy violations at the “Fall Fest” gathering, including alcohol in a courtroom and inappropriate costumes. Ritts denied knowing alcohol reached the courtroom and called the probe politically motivated. MacBride, who won the Republican primary, claims the event became excessive under Ritts’ leadership.
Despite the loss, Ritts vows to stay in the race. Both candidates continue trading barbs as election tensions rise.
