Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added another honor to his remarkable 2024-25 campaign, winning Male Athlete of the Year at the 2025 ESPYS.
The MVP was recognized for his dominant season, beating out NFL stars Josh Allen and Saquon Barkley, as well as MLB standout Shohei Ohtani.
Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder to their first NBA championship, capturing league MVP, Conference Finals MVP, and Finals MVP along the way. He claimed the scoring title for the third consecutive season while averaging over 30 points per game, cementing his status as the league’s most dynamic offensive force. His performance helped Oklahoma City become one of the most dominant teams in NBA history.
With a new supermax extension secured and co-stars Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren also locked in, Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder are poised for a strong title defense.
Though Oklahoma City fell short in the ESPY’s Best Team category, losing to the Philadelphia Eagles, the night belonged to its franchise centerpiece, whose meteoric rise has placed him in conversations alongside the game’s all-time greats.
