Cuomo relaunches mayoral bid with casual reboot

After a bruising primary loss to Zohran Mamdani, Andrew Cuomo is retooling his mayoral campaign with a stripped-down image and new strategy, according to Politico. The former governor is aiming to reconnect with younger voters and build a moderate coalition in a crowded general election field.

Cuomo has swapped suits for short sleeves and replaced much of his original team. He’s now taking selfies, doing local media rounds, and trying to emulate Mamdani’s grassroots style—without appearing inauthentic. Still, big donors and key allies remain hesitant as polls show Mamdani’s diverse base reshaping the electorate.

Cuomo faces stiff competition from Mamdani, Eric Adams, Curtis Sliwa, and Jim Walden. While he hopes to unite moderates and push out low-polling rivals, others in the race aren’t backing down—raising doubts about his comeback path.
