Geneva lands $1M grant for sewer upgrade

The City of Geneva has secured a $1 million state grant to expand its wastewater treatment capacity, supporting future housing projects, including a 60-unit development at the former Geneva Foundry site, according to the Finger Lakes Times. The grant is part of Empire State Development’s new County Infrastructure Grant Program.

Nearby communities also received $500,000 each. Ovid will rebuild water infrastructure damaged by a January fire. Lyons will replace hazardous sidewalks in its historic Central Park area, and Penn Yan will automate its aging water treatment plant to improve efficiency and water quality.

In total, more than $4.75 million was awarded across the Finger Lakes region for eight infrastructure projects.
