Savannah woman accused of stealing fishing gear

Deputies arrested a 20-year-old woman in Wayne County after she was allegedly caught stealing fishing equipment from someone who had previously told her not to touch it.

The suspect, Melody Fish of Aiken Road in the Town of Savannah, was charged with petit larceny following an investigation into the theft, according to a press release from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said Fish was confronted by the victim while taking several fishing poles and other equipment. The victim had already warned her that she did not have permission to use the gear.

Deputies transported Fish to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, where she was fingerprinted and photographed. She was later released with an appearance ticket and is expected to appear in the Town of Lyons court at a later date.
