The Corning-Painted Post Airport will receive over $731,000 in federal funding for runway improvements, according to WETM. The grant is part of the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program and will help complete the final phase of runway rehabilitation to maintain safety.
The Town of Erwin Industrial Development Agency will oversee the project, which targets a 3,269-foot section of the existing paved runway. It’s one of four airports in New York’s 23rd District receiving similar grants.
Nearby, Elmira Corning Regional Airport was also awarded over $1.5 million for a new roof, continuing a trend of infrastructure upgrades in the region’s aviation sector.
