A man was killed and a woman injured in a one-vehicle crash Monday evening in the town of Summerhill, according to New York State Police.
Troopers from Auburn responded to State Route 90 at approximately 5 p.m. where a 2017 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck had overturned after leaving the roadway. Investigators determined the truck was traveling east when it lost control and exited the north side of the road.
The 51-year-old male driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not released his name.
A passenger, identified as 47-year-old Lawanda H. Eaton of Cortland, had no apparent injuries but was transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. She remains in stable condition.
The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit processed the scene with assistance from the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office and the Locke Fire Department. The investigation is ongoing.
