Canandaigua lakefront eyed for culinary center, park

Plans are emerging to transform a vacant four-acre plot near Canandaigua Lake into a regional hub for culinary arts and craft beverages, according to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle. The proposal also includes a new public park across from Kershaw Park.

The site, once slated for expansion of the Pinnacle North development, could now house programs from Finger Lakes Community College, New York Kitchen, and Cornell Cooperative Extension. The Canandaigua Area Development Corp. is offering to donate the land, contingent on project approvals.

Officials say the project could enhance tourism, education, and public access to the lake. If all approvals go smoothly, construction may begin by spring 2026, offering what supporters call a “win-win” for the region.
