Savannah man arrested after meth discovery in traffic stop

A Savannah man has been charged with felony drug possession following a months-long investigation into a traffic stop that occurred in April.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 38-year-old Kevin J. Himes of Prospect Street after lab tests confirmed that a crystal-like substance found during the initial stop was nearly 28 grams of methamphetamine.

Himes now faces multiple charges, including criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree—a Class A-II felony—and aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree. He was also issued several traffic citations.

Deputies arrested Himes on July 2 and held him for arraignment in Wayne County CAP Court later that evening.
