Congresswoman Claudia Tenney has reintroduced legislation aimed at preserving memorials that honor veterans, law enforcement, and first responders.
The Remembering Our Local Heroes Act, reintroduced on June 30, would direct the Secretary of the Interior to create a federal grant program supporting the construction, restoration, and maintenance of local memorials. Tenney, a Republican representing New York’s 24th District, announced the bill alongside Congressman Chris Pappas, a Democrat from New Hampshire.
“Our veterans, first responders, and law enforcement officers embody the very best of our nation,” Tenney said. “The Remembering Our Local Heroes Act ensures that communities in New York and across the country have the resources needed to maintain and restore these tributes for future generations.”
Pappas added, “This bipartisan legislation will help communities… build, maintain, and restore memorials honoring our heroes, ensuring that they will never be forgotten.”
