Driver charged with homicide after deadly Syracuse crash

A speeding BMW driven by an allegedly intoxicated man slammed into another car Thursday night in Syracuse, killing one person and critically injuring four others, according to Syracuse.com. Authorities say 20-year-old Antwan D. Reed Jr. was drunk and driving recklessly when the crash occurred.

Reed faces charges including aggravated vehicular homicide and DWI. The crash at James and Wilson streets ejected multiple passengers and destroyed a fire hydrant and utility pole. The victim has been identified as 47-year-old Maurice Watkins.

Three survivors remain hospitalized with serious injuries. Reed, who has prior assault and weapons arrests, was arraigned Friday with bail set at $200,000.
