The Ithaca Fire Department has officially opened its new Station Number 2 in the East Hill neighborhood, according to WENY. The modern facility replaces the outdated College Ave. firehouse and was completed at a lower cost than renovating the original structure.
Located at Elmwood Avenue and Dryden Road, the new $7.3 million firehouse spans 13,000 square feet and includes features like a classroom, gym, rest area, and dedicated emergency vehicle access. It’s also an all-electric, two-story design built with community support.
Fire Chief Rob Covert thanked residents for backing the project, calling their support essential to the department’s success.
