Flash flooding from Tropical Storm Fred in 2021 and Tropical Depression Debby in 2024 left the school uninhabitable. Superintendent Jason Oliver confirmed FEMA will cover construction and infrastructure costs. The new project includes $3.3 million for roads and sidewalks.

Officials are now focused on land acquisition and planning. The full rebuild is expected to take about four years, with regular community updates scheduled throughout the process.
