Locke woman arrested for violating order of protection

A 57-year-old Locke woman was arrested earlier this month after Cayuga County deputies say she violated a court-issued order of protection.

Deputies arrested Shantel Yaw on June 12 at 8:15 a.m. and charged her with criminal contempt in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.

According to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to a residence in the Town of Locke around 7:23 a.m. for a report of an Order of Protection violation. Upon arrival, deputies found Yaw in the presence of the protected party, despite a full stay-away order being in place.

Yaw was taken into custody without incident and later arraigned at the Centralized Arraignment Part (CAP) court. She was released after posting $2,500 bail and is scheduled to appear in Locke Town Court at a later date.

Anyone with additional information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office or leave an anonymous tip through the SaferWatch app.
