Kathy Peters, a former principal and longtime educator, hopes to establish an independent Catholic high school in the Finger Lakes region, according to the Finger Lakes Times. Inspired by what she sees as a growing need for faith-centered education, Peters envisions a school rooted in discipline, community, and Catholic values.
Though DeSales High School in Geneva closed in 2012, Peters wants more than a revival — she dreams of a campus that could grow into a broader Catholic community with housing, recreation, and retail. The school would not be tied to the Rochester Diocese, allowing greater flexibility in its structure and mission.
At age 79, Peters knows the plan requires significant support and is calling on others to help bring her 25-year vision to life.
