Juvenile cyclist airlifted after collision with vehicle in Palmyra

A juvenile bicyclist was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital with head and facial injuries after a collision with a vehicle in the Town of Palmyra, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred around 3:25 p.m. on June 17 at the intersection of State Route 21 and Jeffery Road. Deputies said the juvenile was riding eastbound on Jeffery Road and failed to stop at the intersection’s stop sign, striking the side of a northbound vehicle traveling on Route 21.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured, authorities said. Emergency crews from the Palmyra and East Palmyra fire departments responded to the scene, along with Finger Lakes Ambulance and Mercy Flight Central, which transported the injured cyclist to the hospital.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
