Two members of the Auburn Enlarged City School District board have stepped forward to lead the group next year, according to The Citizen. Jim Van Arsdale is seeking the role of president, while Matteo Bartolotta has expressed interest in serving as vice president.
Van Arsdale, a teacher and nonprofit cofounder, joined the board in 2022. Bartolotta, owner of Nino’s Pizzeria, returned via a successful write-in campaign after initially opting not to run. Neither has held a leadership role before.
Current president Dr. Eli Hernandez endorsed both men, emphasizing the importance of developing new leaders. The board will vote on July 2 during its reorganization meeting.
