No, Trader Joe’s chickens are not vaccinated for bird flu

  • Staff Report

Despite viral claims on social media, including a post shared by Rob Schneider, Trader Joe’s is not selling chickens vaccinated with mRNA bird flu vaccines, according to News10NBC. The company has confirmed none of its poultry receives such vaccinations.

U.S. agriculture officials have echoed that the poultry industry does not currently use bird flu vaccines, as no approved commercial vaccine exists yet. Though some countries vaccinate poultry, U.S. regulators are still evaluating potential risks to the food supply and international trade.

The federal government is funding vaccine research, but any claims that vaccinated chicken is already in stores like Trader Joe’s are false.
