A 62-year-old LeRoy man died Wednesday after his manure truck overturned during a tight turn in Elba, according to the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office. The crash occurred on Watson Road just after the driver, Joseph Merica, attempted a left-hand turn from Arnold Road.
Merica was pulled from the wreck but was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say speed does not appear to have played a role. The state’s Department of Environmental Conservation responded to contain a diesel spill.
Authorities are asking any witnesses to contact the sheriff’s office as the investigation continues.
