Two-car crash at busy Seneca Falls intersection highlights ongoing traffic concerns

  • Staff Report

First responders were called to the intersection of East Bayard and Ovid Streets in Seneca Falls on Tuesday afternoon following a two-car crash with injuries—marking the second collision at the site in under a week.

Seneca Falls Volunteer Fire Department, North Seneca Ambulance, and the Town of Seneca Falls Police Department were dispatched at 1:55 p.m. Multiple fire units responded alongside two ambulances. One patient was transported, while another signed off on treatment at the scene.

The crash forced emergency crews to shut down parts of the intersection to secure the area and treat the injured safely. All units cleared the scene by 2:30 p.m.

Officials say ongoing construction on the Ovid Street Bridge is contributing to increased traffic congestion and delays. The bridge has been reduced to one lane in each direction, and turning restrictions are slowing the flow of traffic. The Department of Transportation estimates the project will take approximately five months to complete.

“Please utilize extreme caution in that area so we don’t have to respond to motor vehicle crashes,” the fire department advised in a statement.
