  • Staff Report

Three New York State Department of Transportation workers were injured Wednesday morning when a vehicle struck them in an active work zone on State Route 36 in Hornellsville.

State Police say the crash occurred at approximately 11:13 a.m. on June 11, when a 2019 Nissan Pathfinder, driven by Brooke A. Burdett, 30, of Arkport, veered into the work area and hit the workers before colliding with a DOT vehicle.

Two victims, ages 52 and 60, were taken by ambulance to St. James Hospital in Hornell. A third worker, age 30, was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. All three are expected to survive, police confirmed.

Members of the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to assist in the ongoing investigation. The southbound lane of Route 36 remains closed with a detour in place.
