Cleanup efforts are underway across Steuben County after flash floods and severe storms swept through the region late Monday. A state of emergency remains in effect, with travel advisories in place due to debris-covered roads and washed-out shoulders.
Crews responded to over 20 emergency calls in just six hours. Areas like Bath, Canisteo, and Cameron saw flooded basements, damaged infrastructure, and downed wires. Rising water levels also prompted no-boating advisories for Keuka, Seneca, and Cayuta lakes due to hidden debris.
Officials estimate damages in the millions but aren’t expecting state or federal aid. Residents are urged to contact insurers and stay cautious around flood-affected areas.
