Giancarlo Stanton is set to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Double-A Somerset, bringing him closer to making his 2025 season debut for the New York Yankees.
The 35-year-old slugger has missed the entire season due to epicondylitis in both elbows, an issue that first emerged last season and flared up again before spring training.
Since joining New York in 2018, Stanton has struggled to stay healthy, averaging under 95 games per season due to a series of injuries, including issues with his calf, hamstring, Achilles, and elbows. He’s played more than 115 games only twice with the Yankees, most recently in 2021.
Despite these setbacks, Stanton remains a key power threat in the lineup, tallying 162 home runs and 431 RBIs over his Yankees tenure while maintaining a .241 batting average.
