Tyrone man charged with promoting prison contraband

A Schuyler County inmate faces a new felony charge after allegedly possessing a dangerous controlled substance while in custody, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Steven Brockway, 64, of Tyrone, was arrested June 6 and charged with promoting prison contraband in the first degree. He was already being held at the Schuyler County Jail on unrelated charges.

Authorities said Brockway had the substance while incarcerated. He was arraigned on the new charge and remains in custody. A court date in Schuyler County Court has not yet been scheduled.
