Seneca Falls man charged with DWI under Leandra’s Law

A Seneca Falls man was arrested Friday night after police say he was driving intoxicated with a two-year-old child unrestrained in the front seat.

Bhavinkumar P. Patel, 37, was stopped by Town of Seneca Falls Police at 11:03 p.m. on June 6 for inadequate plate lamps. During the stop, officers observed the child sitting without a proper restraint system. Further investigation revealed Patel was impaired by alcohol, with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or higher.


Patel was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, DWI, aggravated DWI with a child under Leandra’s Law, and operating a motor vehicle with a BAC over 0.08%. He was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Seneca Falls Court at a later date.
