Chainsaw theft leads to arrest of Port Byron man

A Port Byron man was charged with petit larceny after he allegedly stole chainsaws from his workplace in Mentz, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested Jeffrey P. Shields, 32, on June 5 after responding to a local business on Route 31. The employer had suspected an employee of theft, prompting the investigation.
