A Penn Yan man is facing felony DWI charges following a late-night crash that sent his vehicle into a wooded area in Ontario County.
Skyler M. Christensen, 25, was arrested by Ontario County deputies on June 6 after a personal injury accident at the intersection of East Avenue and State Route 488 in the Town of Hopewell.
Deputies say Christensen was driving a 2012 Infiniti SUV when he failed to stop at a stop sign and veered off the road into a downhill wooded area. An investigation determined he was intoxicated at the time of the crash. Due to a prior DWI conviction within the past 10 years, the charge was elevated to a felony.
Christensen was taken to F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, where he was treated for minor injuries. He was later released with traffic citations and is scheduled to appear in Hopewell Town Court at a later date.
