A key hearing on Greenidge Generation’s air permit renewal has been postponed, according to the Finger Lakes Times. Originally set for June 10 in Albany, the hearing will now be rescheduled later this month after a state administrative judge granted the company’s adjournment request.
Environmental groups led by Earthjustice opposed the delay. Greenidge, which operates a natural gas-powered crypto mining facility on Seneca Lake, has been fighting to renew its Clean Air Act Title V permit after it was rejected in 2022.
The company argues DEC mishandled its review, citing a court ruling that allowed a new administrative process. Meanwhile, local opposition continues over the plant’s environmental impact, especially water discharged into the lake.
