A Utica man was charged after allegedly crashing a truck into a mobile home in the town of Schuyler and fleeing the scene, New York State Police said.
Troopers identified the driver as 40-year-old Bob W. Szewczyk, who later admitted to being highly intoxicated at the time of the crash.
The incident occurred on May 28 at 10:16 p.m. on Monaghan Lane, where a red pickup truck left the road, tore through a grassy area, and struck the side of a mobile home. The homeowner told police the truck then drove off.
Troopers found damage to the home, including a broken gas line, gas meter, and gutter. Szewczyk was located and interviewed on May 31, during which he admitted to driving the vehicle while intoxicated.
He was charged with multiple traffic infractions, including Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident. Police said Szewczyk was also arrested for a separate, unrelated incident and remains in the Herkimer County Jail.
