Andrew Cuomo is reintroducing himself to voters with a hopeful new campaign ad, according to Politico. The 30-second spot, titled “Rise,” shows the former governor standing on a Brooklyn street, promising to tackle the city’s affordability crisis and boost housing.
Cuomo pledges to build 500,000 affordable homes and raise the minimum wage—issues he championed during his previous roles. The ad also references his record on infrastructure and leadership during the Covid-19 crisis, despite a DOJ investigation stemming from that period.
Though still leading in the polls, Cuomo faces a narrowing lead in the Democratic mayoral primary as critics argue he helped create the very problems he now promises to solve.
