No SSI checks in June 2025: When will you get paid again?

If you’re one of the 7.4 million Americans who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI), you may have noticed there’s no SSI check coming in June. But there’s no need to panic — it’s not a missed payment, just a calendar twist.

Why no SSI check is issued in June?

The Social Security Administration always schedules SSI payments for the 1st of each month, but when that date falls on a weekend or federal holiday, it sends the payment early. Since June 1, 2025, lands on a Sunday, the agency issued the June payment on Friday, May 30.

That means SSI recipients received two checks in May, but none during the calendar month of June — even though they are still receiving their full benefits.

This kind of shift isn’t uncommon and will happen two more times in 2025:

  • September 1 (Labor Day): SSI check will arrive Friday, Aug. 29
  • November 1 (Saturday): SSI check will arrive Friday, Oct. 31

So in those cases, beneficiaries will receive two checks in August and October, but none in September and November.

SSI payment dates for the rest of 2025

Here’s the full SSI payment schedule for 2025 as published by the Social Security Administration (SSA):

  • Friday, May 30 – June payment
  • Tuesday, July 1 – July payment
  • Friday, August 1 – August payment
  • Friday, August 29 – September payment
  • Wednesday, October 1 – October payment
  • Friday, October 31 – November payment
  • Monday, December 1 – December payment
  • Wednesday, December 31 – January 2026 payment

Who qualifies for SSI checks?

SSI is a needs-based federal program designed to help:

  • People aged 65 and older
  • Individuals who are blind or have a disability
  • Children with qualifying disabilities
  • Adults with limited income and resources

Most adults earning more than $2,019 per month from work are not eligible for SSI. About one-third of SSI recipients also receive Social Security benefits, which are paid separately and on a different schedule.

What about regular Social Security checks?

Social Security retirement and disability payments follow a Wednesday-based payment schedule:

  • If your birthday is between the 1st–10th, you’re paid on the second Wednesday (June 11)
  • For birthdays 11th–20th, payment is on the third Wednesday (June 18)
  • For birthdays 21st and after, payment is on the fourth Wednesday (June 25)

Those who began receiving benefits before May 1997 are typically paid on the 3rd of each month.

What should you do?

If you didn’t receive a payment in June but got two checks in May, there’s no action required. However, always monitor your payment schedule and check your direct deposit or benefits card balance to stay updated.
