A Hornell man will serve 15 years in prison for causing a deadly 2023 crash in Avoca while speeding and high on marijuana, according to WENY. Michael Eldridge, 28, was sentenced Friday after being convicted on assault and multiple manslaughter charges.
Prosecutors said Eldridge was driving 87 mph when he crossed into oncoming traffic on Route 415, killing driver Michael Hinrich and injuring two others. Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker said the sentence reflects the gravity of Eldridge’s reckless actions.
In addition to prison time, Eldridge faces five years of post-release supervision.
