Penn Yan and Waterloo girls lacrosse advanced to the Class D final with strong semifinal wins on Wednesday night, as Bailey Cooper led the Mustangs with four goals and four assists.
On the baseball side, top-seeded Sodus topped Pavilion/York in walk-off fashion to secure a spot in the Class C1 Final. Canandaigua’s postseason run ended in the Class AA semifinals with a loss to Churchville-Chili. Meanwhile, weather postponed both the Bloomfield vs. Geneseo (C1) and Gananda vs. Genesee Valley-Belfast (C2) baseball semifinals, which are now set for Thursday.

Class AA Semifinals

Sam Clark drove in two runs with a single and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Jackson Clark to give the Gray Wolves a brief lead in the third inning. Jackson Clark and Richard Baskin each added a single, with Baskin also scoring a run. Canandaigua finished their season with a 15-8 record.

Parker Orbaker delivered a clutch walk-off single to center in the bottom of the eighth inning for the Spartans, scoring Evan Laird. Orbaker also added a hit earlier in the game, while Garrett Barron tallied two hits, including a game-tying RBI single in the third. Laird went 2-for-3 with a key double in the eighth, and Austin Cincinello dominated on the mound, striking out nine and allowing just one run on three hits over eight innings. Cincinello and Gauge Johnson also chipped in offensively with a double and a single, respectively. Sodus will face No. 7 Bloomfield or No. 3 Geneseo in the Class C1 Final on Saturday.
