Ontario County deputies made two arrests on May 26 in unrelated larceny investigations at major retailers in Hopewell and Victor.

In the first case, Madison Rae Kiefer, 26, of Shortsville, was charged with petit larceny after sheriff’s deputies responded to a theft complaint at the Walmart on Recreation Drive in Hopewell around 12:14 p.m.

According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, Kiefer was taken into custody at the scene and later released with an appearance ticket. She is scheduled to appear in Hopewell Town Court.

Later that afternoon, deputies arrested 59-year-old Kelly Jane Alvermann of Canandaigua at the Target store in Victor. Investigators say Alvermann exited the store with merchandise that had been re-tagged and passed all points of sale without paying properly.

Alvermann faces charges of petit larceny and falsifying business records in the first degree. She was issued an appearance ticket and banned from the Eastview Mall property. She will appear in Victor Town Court at a later date.
