ReUse Systems is expanding its operations in Geneva thanks to a $100,000 grant from the Ontario County Board of Supervisors, according to the Finger Lakes Times. The nonprofit will use the funds to hire a full-time project coordinator to help establish a permanent site and build the program’s infrastructure.
Founded in 2024, ReUse Systems focuses on reducing landfill waste by extending the life of reusable goods. The group also received an AmeriCorps VISTA position through the University of Rochester’s YouthYear program to assist in launching the initiative.
Both roles will be based at the Bozzuto Center at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, where the VISTA member will also be housed. The nonprofit plans to offer job training, retail operations, and community education centered around sustainability.
