A late-night DWI checkpoint in Canandaigua ended with a felony arrest following a traffic stop on North Main Street.
Authorities identified the driver as Caroline Grasso, 62, of Canandaigua. According to a press release from the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, Grasso was taken into custody on May 24 at approximately 11:15 p.m. after deputies determined she was operating her vehicle while intoxicated.
The checkpoint was conducted jointly by members of the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office and the Canandaigua Police Department. Deputies discovered that Grasso had a prior conviction for Driving While Intoxicated in November of 2015. That history elevated the current charge to a felony.
Grasso will appear in Canandaigua City Court at a later date to respond to the charge.
