Multiple departments responded during the overnight hours to a working structure fire in Interlaken, where heavy smoke and flames were reported coming from a home.
The Cayuga/Seneca Fire Wire reported that units were dispatched around midnight, with Interlaken arriving first and confirming smoke showing. Soon after, flames were seen breaking through the siding, prompting a full fire response.
Command was established by Interlaken, who declared it a working fire. Due to unsafe conditions inside, crews were ordered to conduct an exterior-only attack. The first floor of the structure was deemed too dangerous to enter.
Engines, tankers, and chiefs from several departments, including Ovid, Lodi, and Interlaken, responded to the scene.
Fire investigators were requested to the scene as suppression efforts continued.
No injuries or cause have been reported at this time.
