A sweeping drug investigation led to the arrest of two men in Farmington on Monday, following the seizure of a kilogram of cocaine, over $12,000 in cash, and six firearms.

Tomas Rodriguez Ortiz, 41, and John S. Kelley, 65, were both charged with first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, an A-I felony, according to a release from the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

The arrests were the result of a joint investigation by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigation Division and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. The Canandaigua and Geneva police departments, along with the District Attorney’s Office, also assisted.

Investigators said the two suspects had been working together to traffic large amounts of cocaine across Ontario County and surrounding areas. Law enforcement executed a traffic stop and two search warrants in the Town of Farmington as part of the operation.

Both men are being held at the Ontario County Jail pending arraignment.
