Ontario County launches grants to revive vacant rentals

A new grant initiative in Ontario County is offering financial support to property owners who want to bring vacant rental units back into use.

The Ontario County Economic Development Corporation (OCEDC) and G&G Municipal Consulting & Grant Writing will host a public open house on May 28 to explain the Vacant Rental Program (VRP) to interested landlords, contractors, and developers.

The event, scheduled for 6:30 PM at the Phelps Community Center on 8 Banta Street, is open to the public and requires no pre-registration. According to the announcement, the program aims to increase the supply of safe, affordable housing across the county by supporting property owners in converting underused spaces into rental units.

Attendees at the session will learn about funding eligibility, the application process, and compliance rules tied to the program. Contractors will also receive guidance on program-specific requirements, including selection procedures, project scope, and payment logistics.

For more information, participants are directed to contact Jay Grasso, President of G&G Municipal Grant Writing, at [email protected] or (585) 368-8866.
